Boris - Smile

Supposedly inferior to the Jap version, but this rocks anyway.

The Pastels - Illumination

Fag-rock?

Kiss - Gold (2CD + 1 DVD)

A steal at RM30, considering other shops are selling just the CDs for RM80.

Beck - Sea Change

Liking what I hear so far, even more so than Mutations.

Waylon Jennings - Legends (3 CD best of)

More of country.

Machete - Delivers the "grindhouse" glory that Planet Terror failed to. Quite an engaging story even if I'm no fan of border politics. The action scenes come thick and fast and harkens back to El Mariachi with added cartoonish OTT gore. It should be a cardinal rule that all action films should be shot this way.....

Inferno (Rewatch) - Makes as much sense as it did when I watched it about 20 odd years ago, which is Zero. I like this mainly for the strange poetic ambience in the cinematography - all drenched in primary colours and over-saturated and also for the odd bursts of symphonic not-really-suitable orchestral fare. Quite a nice bit of arthouse/horror. Objectively, hardly as good as Suspiria but I still like this one better. Haven't seen Mother of Tears yet.

Tron : Legacy

Not much to say about this one. Hugely entertaining, no doubt, but the designs aren't as good as its prequel. And the sudden turning to a 3D world harks back to The Wizard of Oz (Black and White to Colour). Probably the best popcorn fodder this X'mas.

Hairy Pothead & The Ghastly Gallows Pt. 1

Best pic about a hirsute weedwhacker going to be hung. Seriously, this is kinda draggy and grim. The lost of the deus ex machina also makes it a bigger challenge for our friend, even if I nearly cried at the passing. Still pretty much rivetting and one of the best cliffhanger endings ever.
